Sustainable Architecture and Green Architecture

Often we are confused between Green and Sustainable architecture. Well both the terms are similar but not the same. Sustainable building can be green but green building may not be a sustainable building. Let's talk more about this...
Sustainable Architecture is an architecture which reduces non renewable energy consumption, reduces the carbon footprint in nature, harms less to the environment. Sustainable is that term which tries to use the naturally abundant available resources such as solar, wind and other such energies to generate the required power in building. The building may have glass as façade which helps natural sunlight to come in which lights up the whole building which is a sustainable solution.
While Green Architecture is almost similar to the concept of sustainable building. All the nature friendly materials are used as well as heavy plantation is done all around and on the building. But a green building may not necessarily be a sustainable building.
A material which is naturally and abundantly available but is taken to a large distance at construction site; the material may not be called as sustainable. Let's make it clear with an example; Bamboo is a Green material but if it is taken at a large distance at construction site and the artificial energies such as vehicles for transportation which use fuel and even pollutes air and harms nature are used then it no longer remains sustainable.
The best way is: To use the nearby available natural resources as well as use such great innovation as glass in construction to have a sustainable and green building. Well both the concepts are really big and have much explanations, theories of their own. In this age when we say of increasing the life of Earth; it does start with plantation and with their use in buildings. Also using all those man-made inventions which define sustainability. Because Sustainable Architecture is the trend going to be followed nearly in this century!!!
